• co-author of the 1st and 2nd editions of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology: A Volume in the Foundations in Diagnostic Pathology Series,
• a member of the consensus conferences and editorial boards for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th editions of the WHO Classification of Tumours of Soft Tissue and Bone.

He is the Bone and Soft Tissue Associate Editor of Modern Pathology and also serves on the editorial boards of numerous other Pathology journals. He was the recipient of the 2009 Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists Annual Prize and the 2025 Distinguished Pathologist Award from the Minnesota Society of Pathologists.

Dr. G. Petur Nielsen was born in Iceland and earned his medical degree from the University of Iceland. He completed his residency training in anatomic pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a fellowship training in surgical pathology and bone and soft tissue pathology at the same institution. He is currently a Pathologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. He is the director of bone and soft tissue pathology and electron microscopy at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has published over 300 articles and case reports, several book chapters and is the co-author of textbooks on bone and the 8th edition of the Enzinger and Weiss’s soft tissue tumors. He has given short courses at the USCAP, lectured throughout the US and the world. He has received teaching awards and was recently awarded a Doctoris Honoris Causa at the Universitatea de Medicina si Famacie, Victor Babes in Romania for his contribution and teaching in Timisoara, Romania.

Dr Bovée aims to link patient care (diagnostic pathology of bone and soft tissue tumors) with basic research (elucidating the molecular events underlying sarcoma development and progression) to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. She was awarded a prestigious VICI grant in 2017 to develop improved models for patient-specific sarcoma treatment. She is, amongst others, a consultant pathologist for the EORTC and the Netherlands Committee on Bone Tumours, she is an editorial board member of several scientific journals and contributed to the WHO classification for bone and soft tissue tumours 4th, 5th and 6th edition. She is the author of >330 scientific publications and >30 book chapters.

Prof. Baumhoer’s clinical focus subspecializes in bone, joint, and soft tissue pathology, as well as head and neck pathology. He is known for his extensive research on the molecular pathogenesis of bone and soft tissue tumors, including methylation profiling. He is a major contributor to the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumors of Soft Tissue and Bone. He has published around 300 articles.

Dr Kosemehmetoglu’s research mainly focuses on bone and soft tissue pathology, breast pathology, and uropathology. He is the recipient of the Young Scientist Award of the Science Academy, 2014. He is a contributor to the 6th edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumors of Soft Tissue and Bone. He has published over 130 articles and 10 book chapters, and has served as an associate editor in a soft tissue pathology book.
